The article is dedicated to the emergence (genesis), historical roots, and ethnological features of folk games in the Surkhandarya Oasis. The research demonstrates how Uzbek national games were formed in relation to labor processes, pastoral lifestyle, totemistic beliefs, and holiday rituals, dating back to the primitive communal era. The ancient origins and intrinsic connection to the pastoral economy of games preserved in the Surkhandarya Oasis, such as "Chillak" (Zuvullatar and Tugʻdi), "Oqsuyak," "Qurma tayoq," "Taqya tushirar," "Toʻrt qumaloq," and "Besh tosh," are scientifically substantiated. A broad range of historical sources, from the "Avesto" and the works of scholars like Mahmud Kashgari and Alisher Navoi to sources from the era of Amir Temur and ethnographic records of the 19th–20th centuries, are analyzed, proving that these games have been preserved almost unchanged over centuries. The article emphasizes the necessity of interdisciplinary complex research into folk games and highlights their importance for preservation, promotion as a national and universal cultural heritage, and application in the upbringing of the younger generation.
