In the early twentieth century, the national intelligentsia—the Jadids—first pursued educational reforms and later engaged in political activity. With the aim of liberating the region from the Bolshevik occupiers, they initially established national political organizations and then published newspapers and journals, carrying out propaganda and outreach work among the population. This information can be found in the pages of the national newspapers and journals of that period, which constitute one of the key sources on the topic. Drawing on these sources, the article examines the Jadids’ educational movement in the struggle for Muslim freedom and their tragic fate, as well as the Bolsheviks’ policy of occupation.
