The article focuses on the formation of foreign policy, stages of development and its role in international relations. At the same time, the main directions of Uzbekistan's foreign policy were also analyzed. The author tried to shed light on the importance of foreign policy in the development of statehood, the development of international diplomacy, and the processes related to the emergence of the first scientific researches related to foreign policy from the point of view of historiography. He researched the use of “soft power” in the foreign policy of Uzbekistan and its positive results, and expressed his opinions on this matter.
