The article analyzes the efforts of the Soviet Union to create its visual image in Western countries. In this regard, attention is focused on photographs that served as one of the important means of propaganda, in particular, on photographs of Uzbek women taken during the visit of foreign photographers to the Soviet Union in 1946-1991. In Soviet propaganda, the visual image of the Uzbek woman occupied a special place, since women, who were prescribed new moral norms, other standards of behavior and new roles in the family and society, were a vivid symbol of the social changes taking place in the Soviet state.
