In 1925-1929, land and water reforms were carried out in Uzbekistan aimed at liquidating the farms of large landowners, the purpose of which was to reduce their impact on the population. As a result of the reforms, the farms of the landlords were taken away by force. Their owners were repressed by the Soviet authorities. Some were forced to emigrate abroad. Part of the confiscated land was given to poor farmers. The rest were transferred to collective farms. This article presents information about the land and water reforms carried out in the Surkhandarya district in 1928-1929, and their results.
