The Akchungul burial ground, located in the tract of the same name on the Ustyurt Plateau, was studies in the1980s by archaeologists from the Karakalpak Branch of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan. To date, theproblem of nomadic culture is a gap in the field of archaeology. The long-term practice of archaeological researchshows that burial mounds remains the main monuments of nomadic culture in Uzbekistan. Arrowheads are oneof the mass finds in nomadic burials. Arrowheads made of iron predominate in the quiver set from the Akchungulburial ground. Iron as an easily corrodible material loses its original shape over time; thus, the classification ofiron arrowheads always requires a special approach from the researcher. This collection of arrowheads from theAkchungul burial ground in composition belongs to the ancient period. In terms of typological features almost allof the arrowheads are similar to those from the Sarmatian quivers of the Volga region and Siberia. Typologicalanalysis allowed the author to date the entire set of quivers to the 2nd–4th centuries A. D.
