This article is about advanced medieval glazed dishes found at the site of Naubagtepa. It was a period ofunique development in the production of glazed pottery in Samarkand Sogd in the early 9th-13th centuries.Archaeological studies carried out at Naubagtepa, located in the northwestern part of Samarkand city, resultedin the discovery of finds related to the history of the monument. Numerous ceramic finds were discovered atthe monument. Many glazed earthenware vessels, including dishes, were found at the site of Naubagtepa. Thedishes are of the same elegance and quality as those found at other sites in Samarkand. In terms of techniqueand motifs of decoration, they belong to the group of glazed vessels known as the «Afrasiab type». Fromthe observations, it became clear that the glazed vessels of Naubagtepa have their analogs in other areas ofTransoxiana. Fragments of broken vessels, in particular glazed dishes from Samarkand, Naubagtepa wereidentified in the oases of Zhetysu, Fergana, Chach, Ustrushana, Tokharistan, Bukhara, and Khorezm. Brown,yellow, red, and green paints were used to decorate the glazed dishes found at the site. Also, the surface ofthe glazed dishes is covered with transparent green, blue, brown, white, and yellow glazes. The glazed dishesidentified at Naubagtepa indicate that craftsmen on this site flourished during the Karakhanid period.
