This study presents a comparative evaluation of the antiradical activity of grapefruit (Citrus paradisi) peel extracts from the Ruby Red and Oroblanco cultivars using a spectrophotometric method based on the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) free radical assay. The fruit peels were dried at 35 °C, and biologically active compounds were extracted by ultrasonic extraction using 96% ethanol. The antiradical activity of the obtained extracts was measured at a wavelength of 517 nm at different extract volumes (25–100 µL) over a time interval of 0–30 minutes. The results demonstrated that the peels of both Ruby Red and Oroblanco cultivars possess high antiradical activity. An increase in extract volume led to a proportional increase in antiradical activity, which reached a stable level after 25–30 minutes. Based on the values obtained at 30 minutes, the IC₅₀ values were calculated as 121.33 µL for Ruby Red peel and 85.80 µL for Oroblanco peel. These findings indicate that the Oroblanco cultivar exhibits higher antiradical efficiency compared to Ruby Red.The obtained results are consistent with recent scientific literature reporting the high antioxidant potential of citrus fruit peels. The study substantiates the feasibility of utilizing grapefruit peels as a valuable source of biologically active compounds for application as natural antioxidant additives in the food, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology industries. Furthermore, the research has practical significance in terms of agricultural waste valorization and the production of value-added products.
