Annotatsiya

This study investigated the anti-inflammatory effects of a biologically active supplement, Broccoli Extract (Brassica oleracea var. italica), containing indole-3-carbinol and sulforaphane, using a dextran-induced paw edema model in Wistar rats. The aim was to evaluate the efficacy of the broccoli extract in comparison with the reference anti-inflammatory drug Ibuklin 400 mg. Eighteen rats were divided into three groups: control, broccoli extract, and Ibuklin. Inflammation was induced by subplantar injection of 6% dextran solution, and anti-inflammatory activity was assessed by measuring paw volume at 1, 3, and 6 hours after administration of the test compounds. The results demonstrated that both interventions significantly reduced edema compared to the control group. At 3 hours post-induction, the mean paw volume increase was 1.40 ± 0.07 ml in the broccoli extract group (edema inhibition — 44%) and 1.25 ± 0.11 ml in the Ibuklin group (edema inhibition — 76%). These findings confirm that broccoli extract possesses notable anti-inflammatory activity and suggest its potential as a safe and effective dietary supplement for the prevention and management of inflammatory processes.
