This article provides information on the importance of dietary supplements in traditional medicine, and on the biological significance of medicinal plants used as dietary supplements for the treatment of ulcerative colitis, hypericum, achillea millefolium, plantago, calendula officinalis, inula helenium and matricaria, chemical composition and vitamins, as well as the mechanism of action of these plants on the colon wall and their discussion.
