The refractive indices of n aqueous solutions of 4-methylpyridine (4-MP) were measured at a temperature of 27 Celsius. It has been established that with increasing concentration x of 4-MP in solution, the refractive index increases, and the dependence n(x) is nonlinear. In the region of low concentrations, features of the behavior of the refractive index in solutions with concentrations of 0.05 and 0.005 mole shares have been established. Based on the fine structure of the scattered light spectrum, the adiabatic compressibility of βS solutions at the hypersonic frequency in the region of low concentrations of 4-MP was studied. A nonmonotonic change in βS with concentration in the vicinity of a singular point was established in comparison with the results of the ultrasonic experiment. The set of results obtained is discussed from the point of view of the micro-inhomogeneous structure of solutions in the region of low concentrations.
