This article provides a comparative legal analysis of the peculiarities of the civil legal status of local self-government bodies in foreign countries. In particular, the author analyzes in international practice the Anglo-Saxon, continental (French), mixed, Iberian and socialist models of local (municipal) self-government. At the end of the article, proposals were made to reflect in the national legislation some of the positive aspects concerning local self-government bodies.
