This article provides a legislative and doctrinal analysis of killings with extreme atrocity. Being considered the history of the development of this concept in local law, being compared modern legislation of foreign countries and their institutional interpretation of the concept. The subjective and objective aspects of the crime are revealed, statistics are provided, problems related to exact qualification of killings and discordance of opinions of scientists on this issue are discussed. In conclusion it is summarized attitude towards legislators and researchers and provided recommendations for improving legislation.
