The article gives a brief overview of the lexical and semantic study of some toponyms in Payarik district of Samarkand region, the history of the origin of place names, to which tribes they belong, the structural types of place names. In today’s world which we live in,everything has a name.From the largest objects to the most invisible particles have their own names. It is impossible to exist in this world without a name.The name is necessary to distinguish things and events from each other.
