ABSTRACT The article is devoted to current problems of translating English sentences with a complicated structure into Russian. The article’s aim is to determine the most suitable translation strategies and demonstrate their effectiveness using specific examples of the English-language media texts. The research methods were analysis of scientific literature, constructive analysis, linguocultural analysis and complex analysis. The article showed the possibilities of translating complex predicates and other members of an English sentence into Russian through the use of special strategies: syntactic assimilation (literal translation), concretization, generalization, antonymic translation, compensation and modulation (semantic development). The scientific novelty of the research lies in the work of the article’s author with examples from the media materials (in modern linguistics, this issue is almost never studied on the basis of journalistic texts). Key words: complicated English sentences, translation into Russian, translation strategies, media texts.
