Annotatsiya

The article analyzes the semantic-associative structure of the artistic concept of "war" in Richard Aldington's novel Death of a Hero (1929). Utilizing cognitive-discursive and literary approaches, the study examines the evolution of the protagonist's perception of frontline reality, tracing his journey from idealistic romanticism to an existential crisis, loss of personal identity, and eventual suicide. Particular attention is paid to the acoustic (sound) segment of the studied concept. The author demonstrates that Aldington's use of onomatopoeia, graphical marking, and vocalic vibration not only models a synesthetic picture of battle but also reflects the specifics of "jazz prose," syncretically blending literature and musical aesthetics. The findings of the research provide a deeper interpretation of the individual-authorial worldview of R. Aldington as a prominent representative of the "Lost Generation" literature.
