This article examines the role, place and essence of the institution of representation of states in their relations with international organizations and representations of international organizations to member states as the central binary institution of diplomatic law of international organizations. The substantiations of the theoretical foundations, legal content and legal nature of the institution of representations are given. The distinctive features of representations of states at international organizations and representations of international organizations on the territory of the member states have been determined.
