Purpose: To study the physical development of children with bronchial asthma using indices. Study material and methods: The physical development was assessed in 76 children with bronchial asthma aged 5 to 9 years, who made up the main group. The average age of the subjects was 7.2±0,27 years. To assess physical development, a combination of mass-growth (BMI or Ketle index, Rohrer index) and breast-growth (Pinier index, Vervec index, Brugsch index) indices was used. Result: Children with bronchial asthma averaged more weight than healthy peers of the control group (31.1±1,6 kg vs. 22.8±2,2 kg). Measurement of chest circumference in the main group revealed statistically larger parameters than in the control group (61.1±1,6 cm versus 57.8±1,2 cm). The results of the assessment of the physical development of children with bronchial asthma according to the indices of Rohrer, Pinier, Brugsch and Vervec showed a significant depression of adaptability with a characteristic disharmony of physical development.
