This article analyzes the current state of the targeted support system for low-income families in Uzbekistan, including its institutional and organizational mechanisms and the effectiveness of ongoing social policy reforms. The study examines the legal framework for social protection, the social benefits system, the Unified Social Registry information system, and the role of the mahalla institution in supporting vulnerable population groups. Furthermore, existing challenges in the provision of targeted social assistance are identified, and practical recommendations for improving the system are proposed. The article also evaluates the main criteria for assessing the effectiveness of targeted social assistance and substantiates the need for further digitalization of social services and integration of information databases. The findings demonstrate the growing importance of the mahalla institution and digital governance mechanisms in identifying and supporting low-income families. It is concluded that ensuring the targeting, transparency, and fairness of the social protection system is a crucial prerequisite for improving public welfare and reducing poverty.
