The article examines issues of ensuring gender equality in family relations and harmonizing work and family roles in Uzbekistan under conditions of socio-economic transformation. It analyzes the historical and cultural evolution of gender roles, the development of the legal framework, and modern state mechanisms supporting the balance between professional and family spheres. Particular attention is paid to structural barriers, including gender segregation in the labor market, unpaid domestic work, and persistent socio-cultural stereotypes. Based on empirical data – an audit experiment on hiring discrimination and panel sociological studies – key contradictions between formal equality and real practices are identified. The necessity of a comprehensive approach, including institutional reforms, development of care infrastructure, and transformation of public consciousness, is substantiated.
