In this article, the author, analyzing the problems of intellectual migration in a globalized world, draws attention to the social classifications that lead to the redistribution of human capital between countries. The mass participation of highly qualified and promising specialists in migration processes significantly affects the economic growth of recipient countries, as well as social relations related to human capital and the human factor. The historical stages of the formation of educational or intellectual migration, its scientific basis, the circulatory (return) nature, the criteria for its emergence, and its social causes have been scientifically classified. As the scale of the problem expands and becomes more widespread, debates about migration increasingly become the central topic of scientific discussion. The author systematically analyzes, from a sociological perspective, such phenomena as the formation of a knowledge-based economy, the introduction of nanotechnology into social life, and the orientation towards innovative development in the world community, including the CIS countries, in the first decades of the 21st century.
