Annotatsiya

This article examines the semantic structure of lexical units expressing affection in English and Uzbek through the method of component analysis. The study identifies arkhiseme, integral semas, and distinguishing semas in the lexical definitions of relevant words and explores the processes of explicit and implicit clarification used in semantic decomposition. Through a comparative analysis of dictionary data and contextual examples from literary works, the research reveals that affectionate lexical units frequently lack explicit endearment markers in dictionary definitions, yet their semantic value becomes evident through contextual usage. The findings demonstrate that dictionary sources alone are insufficient for a comprehensive linguistic analysis of FSFA (Formations of Semantically Marked Affection), and that additional materials from literary texts, media, and informants are essential for accurately identifying semantic components. The study contributes to a deeper understanding of cognitive, semantic, and cultural features embedded in the affectionate lexicon of English and Uzbek.
