This article analyzes the theoretical and practical significance of lexicographic principles in the process of compiling ontological dictionaries. It also examines their semantic structure, conceptual relations, and the various challenges that arise in the process of systematization, using information technology terminology as an example. The difference between ontological and classical explanatory dictionaries lies precisely in this: in ontological dictionaries, semantic, hierarchical, and paradigmatic relations among terms are identified and treated as a knowledge base. The article further reveals the role of lexicographic principles in compiling ontological dictionaries, namely precision, systematicity, conceptual integrity, and user orientation. The analysis, conducted on the basis of information technology terminology, shows that ontological dictionaries are not only linguistic tools, but also serve as a semantic foundation for computational linguistics, artificial intelligence, and machine translation. The results of the study indicate that applying modern lexicographic approaches in the creation of ontological dictionaries ensures terminological clarity, scientific consistency, and user-friendliness. Furthermore, the efficiency of ontological dictionaries is directly linked to lexicographic approaches, without which achieving comprehensive scientific and theoretical outcomes is less likely.
