This study analyzes selected excerpts from Hector Malot’s significant literary works through a contextual interpretation, with particular focus on his novel Sans famille (Nobody’s Boy). It provides a deep examination of Malot’s themes, narrative structure, and stylistic devices. By closely analyzing passages from Sans famille, the research explores how Malot constructs his characters and settings, and how these reflect the broader socio-political and cultural issues of his time.The article investigates the period in which Sans famille was published, considering its social and cultural background. The hardships and changes that emerged during that era, along with depictions of everyday life, hold an important place in Malot’s work. His writings are grounded in realism, offering a sincere and precise portrayal of human struggles, while also maintaining a sense of hope and belief in goodness – thus combining elements of realism with optimism.Through historical sources and literary criticism, the article connects Malot’s work to broader cultural processes, highlighting recurring themes such as the human spirit’s resilience, transformation, and the pursuit of goodness.
