This article describes the emergence, development, and philosophical-aesthetic significance of the humor genre in both world and Uzbek literature. Humor, as a cultural manifestation of human thought, has consistently evolved in close relation to social life, ethics, and moral values. From ancient Greek literature to European and Eastern traditions—particularly in Uzbek oral folklore and written texts—the article explores how techniques such as wit, irony, and satire were used, and for what purposes. It analyzes how humor has manifested across different historical periods and served various social ideals. In particular, the works of Alisher Navoi, Abdulla Qodiriy, and G'afur G'ulom are investigated for how they used humor to advance social critique, aesthetic expression, and educational goals. The authors’ stylistic tools, their creative use of humor for character portrayal, social commentary, and artistic expression are also studied. The article presents humor not merely as a source of amusement, but as a powerful literary device that provokes thought and influences values. It provides a comprehensive overview of the formation and development of humor in literary processes and emphasizes its continued relevance in today's world. Ultimately, the article highlights the transformative power of humor in addressing societal issues, making it an essential tool in shaping cultural and literary discourse.
