This article analyzes the aphorism as a short and meaningful phrase, considering it as a cultural, philosophical, and linguistic phenomenon. Aphorisms help to expand thoughts, deepen understanding, and express life experiences through their clear, concise, and memorable expressions. The article discusses the origin of aphorisms, their definition, functional and semantic characteristics, as well as the rhetorical devices used in them. The pedagogical and cultural significance of aphorisms is also highlighted, along with their distinction from forms such as proverbs, epigrams, and quotes. A deep analysis of aphorisms in English literature is provided during the research, demonstrating their contribution to the development of culture and language. Aphorisms often express vast ideas in a short and concise manner, making them easier to remember. They are widely used not only in literature but also in everyday life for motivating people or reminding them of important truths. This research was conducted using theoretical analysis and comparative approach methods, further enhancing the significance of aphorisms. Through aphorisms, unique thoughts and values of humanity are reflected, increasing their importance as cultural heritage. The article also explores the role of aphorisms in fields such as linguistics, psychology, and sociology.
