The legal status of an athlete is a complex and multifaceted category, including elements of civil, labor, administrative and sports law. The issue of the legal nature of this status is becoming especially relevant in the context of the popularization of sports, expansion of international sports relations and strengthening of state regulation of sports activities. The purpose of this article is to study the legal nature of the status of an athlete, identify its features and basic elements of regulation, with special attention paid to the analysis of the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan in comparison with the norms of international law.
