This article is devoted to the structural-functional analysis of the culture of tolerance. The significance of the socio-historical evolution of the culture of tolerance is justified. Methods and perspectives for studying the main essence of tolerance as a phenomenon are established. The interrelation of the primary forms of social tolerance is identified and verified. The goals and ideas of permission and acceptance as the basis for promoting a culture of tolerance are connected with the fourth meaning. Understanding that there are people who are completely different from us and that they have their own ideas, beliefs and opinions, as well as their own ways of relating to other feelings - this is what tolerance means. However, this interpretation may hide passive indifference and tolerance that does not deserve to be called tolerance. The proposed solutions to achieve them are outlined. In addition, this article systematically organizes the socio-philosophical views of Eastern philosophers on tolerance and comprehensively examines them using primary sources. The article also considers several methods for studying tolerance as a psychological concept. The issue of defining tolerance is considered from an existential, cognitive and personal perspective. In addition, the cognitive, emotional and behavioral aspects of tolerance are considered.
