The article considers the problem of cognitive-discursive approach to the study of colour denotations considers words describing colours not as simple labels, but as complex constructions formed at the intersection of cognitive processes and discursive practices. This approach emphasises that colour names reflect not only the physical properties of hues, but also how speakers perceive, classify and interpret colour within their culture and communication. The concept of ‘colours’ is distinguished in human consciousness in two ways. Firstly, colour is perceived as an essential, psychologically significant feature of the objects of the surrounding world, allowing to distinguish them, especially when other characteristics are similar. Secondly, colour can give psychological significance to separate details of an object, which stand out against the general background due to their colouring, attracting attention to themselves. In addition, the variability of the colour of objects in a dynamic world is constantly in the focus of human attention.
