Since the overall purpose of teaching English is to communicate and use the language for academic and social purposes, teachers should focus on using meaningful materials. Students are not required to memorize the learned knowledge, but to perform real-life tasks. Therefore, authentic materials introduce students to real language and meet their communication needs because they are natural and different from traditional artificial materials. It aims to determine whether the use of authentic materials can improve students' reading comprehension. Using a variety of authentic materials serves to bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and real life in students' language learning. The use of authentic materials is noted in almost all modern teaching approaches and methods. The main advantage of this approach is the variety of materials that can be used. Authenticity is therefore important to many researchers because it prepares learners for real-life situations in using the target language. On the other hand, using non-authentic materials can lead to less real-life practice for students.
