Annotatsiya

This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the system of kinship terms in the Uzbek and English languages from comparative-typological and lexical-semantic perspectives. The study aims to identify the structural models of genealogical terminology, the degree of semantic differentiation, and their cultural-pragmatic load. Based on scholarly evidence, it is demonstrated that in Uzbek there is a high level of grouping of kinship units, clear differentiation according to age and collateral line, as well as modeling based on affixal derivation. In English, by contrast, a tendency toward generalization and the predominance of the compositional model are observed, while gender and genealogical specification is often realized through contextual means.
