The article examines the semantic and syntactic features of prepositions in the Russian language and the ways of expressing similar relations in the Karakalpak language. The relevance of the study is determined by the need for comparative analysis of languages belonging to different typological systems, as well as by the growing interest of modern linguistics in functional grammar and the semantics of function words. The object of the research is Russian prepositions and the means of expressing syntactic relations in the Karakalpak language, while the subject is their semantic and syntactic features. The aim of the study is to identify similarities and differences in expressing spatial, temporal, causal, and objective relations.
