Annotatsiya

The article presents a comparative analysis of the linguocognitive and linguopragmatic construction of gender and linguistic identity in English and Uzbek political discourse. The study examines the mechanisms of expressing gender identity at the lexical and pragmatic levels, particularly through gender-neutral vocabulary, nominative strategies, metaphorical models, and speech acts. Based on critical discourse analysis, gender linguistics, and cognitive metaphor theory, the discursive nature of identity in political speech is revealed. The results of the analysis show explicit and strategic expression of gender in English political discourse, while in Uzbek discourse it is formed more implicitly and on a linguocultural basis.
