The Kushan Empire at its height was one of the greatest states of the ancientworld, on par with Rome, Parthia and China. But unlike these powers, informationabout the Kushan Empire was lost for a long time. It became available toresearchers in the 20th century thanks to the study and comparison of writtensources, numismatics and, most importantly, thanks to many years of work byarchaeologists in southern Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and India. It hasbeen established that the Kushan Empire included vast territories inhabited byvarious ethnic groups adhering to various beliefs and cults. In this regard, the issueof the religious situation in the empire is of particular interest to researchers. Thisarticle is devoted to this issue. It examines monuments of material cultureassociated with the cult-religious sphere of social relations: objects of art,numismatics and epigraphy, described and presented in illustrations in scientificworks devoted to various aspects of the history of the Kushan Empire. Based ontheir study, the article reveals the theme of the cult-religious situation and religiouspolicy in the Kushan Empire.
