The article presents a systematic analysis of the linguistic, lexico-semantic, and pedagogical features of learner’s explanatory dictionaries developed in English and Uzbek. The research primarily focuses on identifying various types of dictionaries — monolingual (single-language), bilingual (two-language), electronic, and subject-specific — as well as establishing their classification criteria and demonstrating their functional role in the process of practical language instruction. The study emphasizes that modern English learner’s dictionaries, developed based on corpus linguistics, are highly effective due to their integration of interactive and multimodal (audio, visual, contextual) approaches tailored to user needs.
