This article explores the challenges of achieving equivalence in the translation of sports news texts between Uzbek and English. Sports journalism often employs concise, expressive, and culturally bound language, making the search for adequate translation solutions particularly complex. The paper focuses on the application of formal and dynamic equivalence theories to sports texts and identifies key lexical, stylistic, and structural issues that arise. Drawing from real examples in both languages, the study suggests practical strategies for overcoming equivalence gaps and achieving functional accuracy in translation.
