This article examines the functional capabilities of homonyms in the Russian language, their role in the semantic structure of the language, and their impact on communication. Various types of homonyms, their origins, and functions in speech practice are analyzed. Drawing on theoretical and empirical data, the study reveals the peculiarities of homonym usage in different contexts, as well as their influence on the polysemy and expressiveness of the language. The work highlights the significance of homonyms for linguistic dynamics and cognitive processes involved in speech perception.
