Annotatsiya

The article comprehensively examines the process of formation, stages of development, and geopolitical significance of the Organization of Turkic States in Central Asia. Initially established as an integration structure based on shared language, culture, and historical roots, the organization has evolved into a multidimensional political and economic cooperation platform. The three-stage formation process included leadership summits between 1992 and 2010, while the Nakhchivan Agreement of 2009 formalized the legal framework. The 2021 Istanbul Summit marked a turning point by redefining strategic objectives and adopting the current name. The analysis highlights strengths such as a favorable geographic location, demographic potential, abundant energy resources, and cultural commonality. Conversely, dependence on Russia and China, economic and security vulnerabilities, and longstanding border disputes are identified as major weaknesses. A SWOT analysis presents both the opportunities and threats faced by the organization. The Organization of Turkic States embodies not only regional integration and solidarity but also holds the potential to play an active role in global geopolitical dynamics.
