The article examines accountability as a key governance mechanism in the activities of the crime prevention service of internal affairs bodies. Based on a normative and systemic analysis of Uzbekistan’s legislation, the study identifies the main contours of accountability: parliamentary (reporting to the Senate), representative-local (hearings in local Councils of People’s Deputies), community (reporting to citizens’ self-government bodies), departmental (hierarchical control), and procedural-information (preventive accounting, preventive case files, documentation, and evidence-based assessment). It is argued that accountability in prevention is not limited to formal reporting; it also includes transparency obligations, citizens’ right to receive reliable information, feedback and public scrutiny, as well as legal responsibility for deficiencies. The paper proposes an analytical model linking reporting cycles, data quality, outcome evaluation, and corrective managerial decisions. Recommendations are formulated to strengthen results-based reporting, ensure data integrity, develop digital dashboards with privacy safeguards, and improve the methodological standards of preventive documentation.
