The article is devoted to the issues of diagnostic support for assessing the individual professional development of future teachers in pedagogical higher educational institutions. Currently, the priority task is to implement such diagnostics in order to achieve educational goals that require a creative approach to the selection and development of educational content. The article discusses how this goal can be achieved through the professional formation of students based on strengthening the diagnostic mechanisms of their readiness for professional activity. Particular attention is paid to “pedagogical skills” as a key aspect; the need for the development of unique educational trajectories and approaches to individual professional growth of students is identified.
