This article highlights the growing interest in English Special Purpose (ESP) teaching in developed countries, as well as the observed prestige of this area of teaching in our country. The importance of developing reading competence as an important element of speech activity within the framework of ESP teaching is discussed. It analyzes how changes in professional qualification requirements affect the need to learn English for specific purposes. The article focuses on the importance of developing reading skills, which helps professionals effectively master specialized terminology and deepen professional knowledge within their field of activity.
