The study reveals that the organization of diplomatic reception ceremonies in the Bukhara Emirate was governed by specific procedural rules. These receptions were not merely formal events; rather, they were carefully arranged occasions to which the Emirate devoted considerable attention, appointing responsible officials to supervise their execution. This article analyzes the protocol norms regulating diplomatic receptions, the attitudes of foreign envoys toward these procedures, and their distinctive traditional features, drawing on the works of historical chroniclers and official reports of diplomatic missions. The research demonstrates that, compared with other Central Asian khanates, the Bukhara Emirate possessed a relatively well-centralized administrative system, which is reflected in the structure of its diplomatic receptions. Preparations for welcoming envoys began at the borders of the respective beklik territories. The exchange of gifts between the two states and the establishment of specialized diplomatic service arrangements during the reception all indicate that this ceremony held a significant place in the Emirate’s foreign policy.
