The article is focused on the problem of the formation and development of communicative competence among students of foreign languages in the learning process, as well as in the context of pedagogical and psychological research. The work analyzes the components of communicative competence, studies the theoretical foundations and criteria for assessing communicative competence, and also discusses pedagogical approaches to its development.
