This article examines particular features of the principle of legal certainty and assesses its significance. It presents the views of domestic and foreign legal scholars and situates legal certainty as an increasingly important pillar of our national legal system. Legal certainty denotes the existence of a clear, predictable legal standard as manifested in statutory texts and authoritative interpretations by law-enforcement bodies. The aim of the article is to analyse distinctive aspects of legal certainty as a legal category, to evaluate its contemporary significance for the national legal system, and to show how strengthening this principle contributes to equality, liberty, and justice, especially in regulating relations among legal subjects.
