This article presents the results of a study on applying the particle swarm optimization algorithm to extract informative features from a training dataset. An informative feature extraction model was developed based on the PSO algorithm and a combined fitness function, and subsequently tested on an EKG dataset. As a result, informative features were identified from the original dataset and used to calculate classification accuracy. Consequently, the number of features in the test set was reduced from 54 to 36, while classification accuracy increased from 95% to 97%.
