This article examines the interaction between political integration and national identity in the process of globalization and regional integration processes. Factors are identified that make it possible to characterize the type of interaction as conflict-based or synergetic, including the functioning of different institutions, cultural compatibility, economic advantages, and public perception. It has been established that modern institutional mechanisms, as in ASEAN, promote synergy by reducing conflicts, while the high level of standardization inherent in the EU can lead to tension. The paper considers the rules for strengthening national identity through integration in the context of intercultural relations between the EU, the EAEU and ASEAN, where the primary elements are economic benefits and recognition of cultural diversity. This article also examines the possible effects of political elites and the media on creating a positive attitude towards integration. A conceptual model has been created that describes how to achieve synergy, taking into account national characteristics and inclusive approaches. Using the example of existing unions, it is concluded that the even distribution of economic advantages and the creation of positive narratives contribute to strengthening national identity in the context of integration.
