The practical aim of foreign language instruction is to master various types of speech activities and develop skills in oral (speaking and listening comprehension) and written (reading and writing) communication in a foreign language. The need to receive or provide information creates a necessity for communication. In foreign language teaching methodology, exercises are categorized into receptive and reproductive types.
