This article presents information on the history of local history studies (kraevedenie), the types and formation of historical local studies, as well as the fact that our ancestors had long been engaged in similar activities, although they were not referred to as local history and that the term itself was introduced by the Russians. In addition, the article examines in detail the organization of local history work in secondary schools and higher educational institutions, the activities of established clubs, and their role in fostering patriotism among young people.
