This article examines the origin of Bukhara, its ancient historical roots, and the main factors that influenced the city’s development. The study highlights the geographical location of the city, its strategic importance along the Great Silk Road, and the role of trade, craftsmanship, and cultural relations in its growth. In addition, the article analyzes Bukhara’s ancient irrigation systems, its status as a political center, and its representation in historical sources from different periods. The stages of the city’s formation and its place in the civilization of Central Asia are discussed on the basis of historical sources and scientific literature.
