Annotatsiya

The article presents the neuroimaging characteristics of non-functioning giant pituitary adenomas based on an analysis of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data. The aim of the study was to assess the mechanical factors influencing tumor growth on surrounding anatomical structures. The study involved 22 patients, with an equal number of men and women, with an average age of 45.7 and 48.5 years, respectively. An analysis of various tumor growth directions and their correlation with clinical manifestations was conducted. The most frequent disorders in endo-suprasellar growth of adenomas were visual field defects (chiasmal syndrome), while retro-sellar growth caused cranial nerve involvement and pyramidal symptoms. The features of lateral, infra-, and antero-sellar tumor growth and their impact on patients' neurological and ophthalmological conditions are described. It was noted that total tumor growth led to the most pronounced neuroendocrine, ophthalmological, and brainstem disorders. The authors emphasize that the invasive nature of giant pituitary adenoma growth significantly limits the radicality of surgical treatment and increases the risk of recurrence.
